David Merson

David is a partner at JD Law focusing his practice on commercial property with a particular expertise in investment and development work as well as property management. He has advised on large-scale purchases and sales of both individual properties and sizeable portfolios.

David has acted for clients on the acquisition, development and disposal of a range of properties, including mixed-use developments, hotels, restaurants, office buildings and industrial estates.

In addition to his work in the commercial property arena, David has significant experience in property finance advising lenders and borrowers on investment and development funding. His experience also extends to residential property as David has acted for developers and purchasers in connection with off-plan sales and new build properties as well as freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals.

Originally from New York, David is qualified to practice in New York and maintains a wealth of contacts in the United States. As a result David is able to effect introductions and referrals for clients looking to establish relationships with investors, agents and other lawyers from across the Atlantic.

Married with a young son, David moved to London in 2003 when his wife (who is from London) convinced him that the weather in the UK wasn’t as bad as reported! David is a long-suffering supporter of the New York Mets and to compound his disappointment, now supports Liverpool FC. To cheer himself up, David listens to music and loves the Beatles (he’s even seen Ringo Starr in concert…twice). When not working, David loves to spend time travelling with his family.
